Alexandru Ilie

Born in a Christian family from Argeș County, Alex felt the calling for ”something special” since he was a child. He became a Christian in his freshman year in high school when, besides his salvation, he also found the passion for God and people. In 2002 he graduated from the Theological Seminary and in 2003 Sociology and Psychology in Bucharest. Currently he is studying for a master’s degree in Global Leadership at Fuller Theological Seminary in USA.

In high school he was involved in various ministries, with orphans, elderly from the rest home in Pitești, or with sick people in hospital. The passion for people kept refreshing him; unfortunately his inability of staying focused led to ordinary results.

In college he met the Organization of the Evangelical Christian Students in Romania (OSCER) which represented a milestone in his life. He understood the importance and principles of staying focused and that the value of the process is at least equal to the results. He was a member of the team that started the Christian students’s ministry in Pitești and coordinated this movement until 2006.

From 2002 to 2004 he taught at the Theological High School Elim in Pitești. Towards the end of his contract he was also the Principal of the school.

In January 2005 he joined the national OSCER team. In his first years he did a lot of pioneering work in the Centre of Romania, then coordinated the South and Center, and from 2007 to 2011 served as a National Coordinator.

From 2003 to 2008, Alex and others saw the need of a relevant church in Piteşti. From January 2008 he coordinated the leadership team at Petra Church.

He got married to Nati in 2004, together doing their best to be a blessing for the city of Pitești and not only.

In 2009 Nati and Alex adopted two twins, a 7-year old boy and girl. Two years later they adopted again, two siblings, a boy and a girl, a 4-year old and a 3-year old respectively.

The verse that best speaks to his heart and inspires him is John15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing”.

Since March 2015, Alex has joined the ARFO team leading the initiatives of the Alliance as an Executive Director.
